Mr. Richard Ward, employed at Perritt Laboratories since 1978, oversees testing of Child-Resistant Packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act of 1970 (including compliance testing for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission - CPSC) employing over 8,000 panelists annually.  The testing division carries test accreditations from The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). 
 
Active in the creation, evaluation and revision of Child-Resistant Packaging test protocols, Mr. Ward provides expertise to several organizations: 
 
A member of the ASTM International since 1984, Mr. Ward has been the recording Secretary for Committees involved in Child-Resistant Packaging standards and was secretary for D10 Main on packaging. He is currently the Task Group Chair for D3475 Classification of CR Packaging.  
 
Mr. Ward is a current collaborator of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Protect Initiative.
 
Past Chair of the Child-Resistant Packaging committee for the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Mr. Ward has been active since 1996, involved in the effort to revise and further implement the Canadian test standards for Child-Resistant Packaging. 
 
Mr. Ward has been an active collaborator for Child-Resistant Package protocol design and revisions for both the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the Committee European Normalization (CEN). 
 
A current member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP), Mr. Ward is a Certified Packaging Professional (CPP).  Mr. Ward is a member of the IOPP Consultants Council.
 
A former lecturer for graduate programs at Temple University (TU) and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and currently at Rutgers University (RU), Mr. Ward regularly speaks on the topic of Child-Resistant Packaging at Pharmaceutical and Household Product clients companies and Seminars.

Mr. Ward received his B.A. in Geologic Sciences from Susquehanna University and full secondary sciences teaching certification as a result of work completed at Susquehanna University, Rutgers University and Penn State University.  He was involved in secondary sciences teaching for 5 years until taking on his Child-Resistant Packaging duties full time.
