John Boja, Ph.D.

Dr. John Boja received his doctorate in Biomedical Sciences from Kent State University in consortium with the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 1988.  He then joined the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and worked on the molecular pharmacology of the dopamine transporter.  While at NIDA, Dr. Boja received awards from the International Union of Pharmacology (IUPHAR), the American College of Neuropharmacology (ACNP), and the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET).  He also holds several patents related to his work there.  From 1994 to 1999 he was an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.  Dr. Boja joined the US Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2000 as a Pharmacologist in the Health Sciences Division focusing on Poison Prevention and special packaging evaluation, and now works in the Office of Compliance as a Team Lead for Chemical Hazards in the Office of Compliance and Field Operations
